Shirt design contest winner!!

Our t-shirt design contest is officially over and we have a winner! Pretty much all of the entries were fantastic, and it just reminded us how much you guys rock, but in the end, this design by Cathy Hookey was the awesomest of the bunch. We’re going to be working on turning this into a t-shirt printable design now, so we’ll let you guys know when this design will be available for order!

Sweet Avenue Necklace!

I ordered a custom-made Sweet Avenue necklace from a seller on Etsy that I just want to tell everyone about. Erin from Orangyred Ink was amazing to work with! Her shop has great necklaces such as a VEGAN one, but she also does custom work. If you’re looking for a really unique necklace, check out her Etsy shop.

More updates!

Hi Cupcake Fans,

We’ve been pretty busy here creating a new Spring menu, so unfortunately I’ve been neglecting the blog. Well, I’m back with some updates.

1. Brand new menu coming shortly. We have already implemented the new menu in our shop, so those who have stopped by recently have seen our new flavors: Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough and Thai Coconut Curry. Our Cupcake of the Month is Cotton Candy! Cotton Candy will be available every Wednesday and Friday for the month of April. AND! We’ll also have two old friends joining us this Spring. Details soon!

2. NEW Website design!! What do you think? We are beyond ecstatic about the new design. Many, many thanks to Jake for his hard work. There is still more to be done with the site, so we appreciate your patience while we are fixing little bugs here and there. Jake has been known to stay up ’til 4am working on the site, so trust us, much time and effort is going into this project. We hope you love the new design as much as we do! :D

3. Today’s Magical Mystery Flavor is SPUMONI! Kristina and I grew up with Spumoni ice cream, so when she thought to create this cupcake, we HAD to make it! We highly recommend stopping by soon (despite the nasty rain) to try this cupcake. We only have a few left!!

Love & Cupcakes,
Danielle

Updates!

Hello everyone. Cupcake Maven Danielle here with some Sweet Ave. updates.

1. We created an AWESOME cupcake this past Friday for our Magical Mystery weekly special. If you follow us on Twitter or Facebook, then you already know that it was Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough. Super yummy, delicious cookie dough baked right into the cupcake with a chocolate chip cookie piece on top. Yumtastic. It will definitely be back. I promise!

2. Wondering what we’re doing for this week’s Magical Mystery cupcake? Well… here’s some insider information: there is a slight possibility of there being a cupcake on Friday that starts with Bacon and ends with Walnut!

3. We’re diligently working on a new website design (it looks awesome), and a new cupcake menu for April. Hopefully you’ll love the new web design & also be thrilled with the cupcakes we’re bringing back, as well as the new arrivals.

4. Friday 3/27 will be the last day Mr. Irish Cream graces us with his presence. Don’t miss your last chance to taste this beer/whiskey goodness.

5. New Jersey Monthly named us Best Vegan Bakery in their newest issue. Yippie!!

Vegan Bakery
With a professed dedication to “life, liberty, and the pursuit of cupcakes,” Sweet Avenue Bake Shop makes everything from scratch daily using dairy- and egg-free ingredients and no packaged mixes or frostings. Former bankers Danielle and Jake Vance opened the Rutherford “cupcakery” (which also sells cookies) in 2007, and the shop features a different cupcake menu every day. Each creation is animal-friendly and delicious, with ingredients such as Madagascar bourbon vanilla and Belgian chocolate. We recommend the Hummingbird: spice cake with bananas, pecans, pineapple, and coconut, topped and filled with cream cheese frosting and pecans (153 Park Ave, 201-935-2253).

More soon!!
Love & Cupcakes,
-Danielle

Snow Day!

Hi all!

We’re taking a snow day today. You should too! Go home early before it gets worse!

We apologize for any inconvenience to those of you who wanted to brave the snow for cupcakes. Blame Mother Nature, not us!

We’ll be back tomorrow. Hope to see you then.

Pssst… I have a secret!

I know we usually debut new flavors at the beginning of every month, but we’ve come up with something so amazingly awesome, that it just couldn’t be contained until February 1st. As such, we are debuting this brand new, super secret cupcake tomorrow (Sat. January 24th). We’re not going to tell you what it is yet. You’ll have to come in to see; however, we will tell you that it will most likely be the best cupcake you’ve ever had. It’s certainly Jake’s new favorite.

Come visit us tomorrow and try our new flavor.
We’ll be open normal hours: 11am – 7pm.

We’re Outta Here!

Merry Christmas from Sweet Avenue Bake Shop!

Christmas Eve has been awesome and insanely busy, so as we mentioned before, we’re taking off for vacation starting now! We will be closed from December 25th through January 5th, reopening on Tuesday, January 6th. If you want to reach us the best thing to do is to shoot us an email. We’ll respond as soon as we get back. Phone messages may take longer to get through, so email is definitely the best way to go if you want to hear back from us as soon as we return.

So that’s about it for us this year. We hope you have a great holiday, and we’ll see you in 2009!
