As we mentioned recently, we attended Bergenfest 2008, but we never officially posted that we won Bergen magazine’s reader’s choice poll for Best Cupcakes (which is the reason we attended, of course).

 

It goes without saying that, once again, we owe it all to you, our massive horde of loyal customers who vote like it’s going out of style. You’re all awesome, and we love you so very much. Thanks again!

Sweet Avenue was featured in another bridal magazine! This time we had a spot in the premiere issue of the (201) Magazine spinoff, (201) Bride. The (201) magazines focus on Bergen County, NJ and the premiere issue of (201) Bride looks really slick and well put-together, so we were very happy to be included.

For the magazine, we designed a wedding cupcake tier in pink and brown with the Latin inscription Amor Vincit Omnia — Love Conquers All. The spread and text is featured below.

We just wanted to update you guys with this article from The Aquarian (written by Amanda Hansult) about Cupcakefest. It sounds like she had a great time and enjoyed the show as much as we enjoyed putting it on. All the bands went over pretty well, and she made a point to mention the awesome cause we raised money for.

Last week the Bergen Record was kind enough to interview us and include a bunch of our photos in a cupcake story. You can see some of the highlights below. The front page of the Better Living section was an awesome spread of cupcakes from ours and other bakeries. We managed to snag 6 out of 9 spots on the front page from the other three bakeries, and we think our cupcakes look pretty awesome on newsprint!

A few weeks ago Amanda Hansult stopped by the shop to talk to us about running a cupcakery. Amanda was interested in us because she goes to the gym across the street and had an eye on our girly pink shop. Also, she is a writer for a bonafide weekly rock and roll magazine called The Aquarian. I’m sure you’ve seen it, if you live in the NYC metro area, and have good taste in music.

Well, the result of the cacophony of coincidences is that Amanda wrote a very nice, long article about us for this week’s edition of The Aquarian. It doesn’t appear to be viewable online, but I’ve posted snippets on the Press page, as per usual. Needless to say, The Aquarian is now our favorite rock and roll weekly print magazine.
